Accessibility Statement
Our aim
We design and build these pages so that people with a wide range of abilities can read them, move around them and understand them. Accessibility is treated as part of the design, not as an afterthought.
The standard we follow
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, at level AA. Those guidelines are produced by the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Accessibility Initiative, and they are the benchmark used widely in the United Kingdom and beyond.
What we do
- Use clear headings so the structure of each page makes sense
- Support keyboard only use, with a visible focus outline
- Keep text and background colours in strong contrast
- Label links and form controls so screen readers describe them well
- Provide text alternatives for meaningful images
- Respect a reader's setting to reduce motion
- Let pages reflow on small screens without sideways scrolling
Devices and tools we test with
Pages are checked at a range of screen sizes and with common assistive tools, including screen readers and keyboard navigation. Testing is repeated whenever the site changes.
Known limits
This is a small reading site without forms or interactive tools. If you find a barrier we have missed, we would like to hear about it so we can put it right.
Feedback
If something on this site gets in your way, please tell the site owner, describing the page and the problem as clearly as you can. We will look into it and reply with what we plan to do.
